As I stated, I have my sister's POA. We also live together, I'm her caregiver. I'm 60, she's 64 and she's on Palliative care. She has A Fib, CHF, O2 24/7. Due to our hardships and struggles we have been evicted and had no legal aid available. I was given 14 days for us to vacate and be gone or we will be physically removed. The landlord, court judge knew all these circumstances and still was only given 14 days. Has anyone dealt with this ? Do I have any chance of using her POA and just get any time extra? I was told the 14 days was from the owners they just want the property, but they use their property manager to do all the talking. Has anyone faced this? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Is there a rent board where you live?
What was the reason given for eviction?
Have you a legal notice?
I agree with JoAnn below in reaching out for legal aid of any kind and social services placement, especially if your sister is disabled. Does she have a medical team? Are they aware of the eviction?

I would also call Adult Protective Services.
I would tell them you are at risk of being thrown into the streets. Ask them for emergency visit and help in finding shelter.
Please check faith based churches in your area. Even if you are not a congregant you may find help or guidance from their good community.
I am so very sorry.

If your sister is competent to make her own decisions, your POA is not invoked yet. You need help. Either Social Services or maybe Office og Aging butvyou need to do something now. For the eviction to go before a job, your landlord has gone through all the initial steps to evict you. You better be packing up because with a court order tge police get involved. You could be escorted out with just what you can carry. This happened to a friend and she ended being locked out so could not get her belongings. Get to Social Services.

I agree that you should contact social services for your county immediately. If your sister isn't already on Medicaid it might be time to apply for this.

This is a global forum and we aren't attorneys so we cannot give you actionable legal guidance. You need to possibly find a pro bono lawyer to help give you advice that is relevant to your home state.

What exactly is the reason for eviction? Lease up? Lack of payment? Normally an eviction gives you 30 days. Not sure how you expect a POA to help in this situation. Have you contacted social services?
