My wife is in Memory Care unit.

Dkrehbs
You need to get to a certified elder care attorney NOW before you spend down further than necessary. As a community spouse yourself, you need to know how to protect finances for your own life and care.
You also need to know that her memory care will accept Medicaid payment.
I am sorry your wife is ill.

Please discuss with you MC unit administrator.
You should also consider looking up Medicaid Qualifications for your state. This can be done with google or any search engine, and phone numbers will be listed.
The rules of shared assets also apply and you may want to consider an hour of time with an elder law attorney. Gather your assets and costs of living and make an appointment to discuss options.

Wishing you the best of luck as you research. Enlist and family members willing to help you.
Do know that some memory care centers do not accept Medicaid and you may need to change facilities when your wife does qualify. Another thing to discuss with the admins when you make an appointment to speak to them about these issues.

You need to apply 2 to 3 months ahead of running out of money. If the MC excepts Medicaid you need to talk to them. They maybe able to help with the application.
