She has been on Paxil 10 mg for many years, her Primary doc has increased to 20 mg tomorrow. Has had many TIAs in the past and continue to do so now in the present. She takes Xanax for anxiety and when she comes down from the anxiety it's almost like she goes in a manic episode for about a week. Primary wants her to see a geriatric psych soon.
Years ago doctor tried to wean my mom off Paxil and she just couldn't do it because it caused her bad headaches. I'm waiting to hear from her neurologist to get his opinion, does anyone out there have any experience with this or advice?

Agree with Barb (as usual, lol!). 20mg should be ok.
Hope all is well, Ms Bella!

I seem to recall from talking to one of the many docs my MIL fired that Paxil is very good at helping with " rumination", going over and over past wrongs. Someone moved a piano out of mom's childhood apt when she was 6 and it was the reason her life was ruined. She wouldn't take the Paxil, so I don't know if it would have helped.

10 mg is a very low dose. Usual starting dose seems to be 20 mg. Is her pc increasing the dosage in response to symptoms? It sounds like a good move as long as you can monitor for side effects.
